Nifty reclaims 11,800-mark; Infratel, HDFC stocks surge

Equity benchmark indices extended gain for the second consecutive session as oil prices slumped and positive macro-economic cues. HDFC twins, Reliance, TCS, Infosys and ITC are among the top contributors to the index gain.
Bharti Airtel, TVS Motor Company, Tata Global Beverages, Thermax, Titan Company, Punjab National Bank, Adani Ports and Avanti Feeds will report their Q3FY20 numbers today.



The Sensex was is 370 points or 0.93% at 40,243 and the Nifty is up 92 points or 0.79% at 11,800. About 1,126 shares have advanced, 360 shares declined, and 553 shares are unchanged.

All the sectoral indices were trading in the green, with the media, IT, metal, banking and auto indices up.

The Nifty Media index rallied 1.3% at 1,803 levels led by TV 18, Network 18, Sun TV and Dish TV.

India VIX is slipped 5% to 14.92.

The most active stocks on the NSE are Manappuram Finance, HDFC, Reliance and HDFC Bank.

The Indian rupee opened higher by 15 paise at 71.21 against US Dollar in the morning trade vs. previous close 71.36/$.
