The Bombay Stock Exchange (BSE) and the National stock exchange (NSE) will remain closed on Tuesday as the country celebrates Dussehra. Also, the wholesale and commodity markets, including metals and bullion, plus the forex and commodity futures markets will not conduct any sort of trading today.
Dussehra, also known as Vijaydashmi, is a popular Hindu festival celebrated at the end of Navratri each year, signifying the victory of good over evil. Further, it signifies the end of Durga Puja, wherein it is believed that Goddess Durga defeated the demon Mahishasur to restore “Dharma.” Along with that, it also marks Lord Rama’s victory over Ravana.
The day also marks the beginning of the harvest season and the Goddess is invoked to start the new harvest season and reactivate the vigor and fertility of the soil.
Further, the earnings season will kick-start with IT majors, TCS and Infosys, reporting their numbers on October 10 and October 11 respectively. Besides, participants will be closely eyeing the IIP data which is scheduled on October 11.
