Indian equity markets made a firm opening on Thursday tracking positive global cues.
The Sensex rose 229 points to 38,823, and the Nifty was up by 76 points at 11,516 in opening trade. (9.27AM)
42 shares advanced, while 8 shares declined on the Nifty50.
All sectoral indices traded in the green, with Nifty Auto gaining the most.
The Nifty Auto index rose just over 1% in morning trade led by Maruti Suzuki, MRF, and Bharat Forge (+1+ each).
On the NSE, IOC and ICICI Bank were the top gainers, up by over 2% each, while Yes Bank (-4%) and HCL Tech were the top losers.
India Vix was down 3.2% at 15.64.
