European indices were down as investors exercised caution ahead of the European Central Bank's decision on interest rates. Market participants will be waiting for the comments of the European Central Bank's President Mario Draghi for clues as to when the central bank will end its bond-buying program.
Investors will also be eyeing the detailing of corporate earnings. Shares of British drinks manufacturer Diageo surged 1.3% after the company posted robust half-yearly results.
France's CAC-40 was at 5505.8 up 0.19%, UK's FTSE was at 7641.3 down 0.03% and Germany's DAX was at 13382.28 down 0.24%.
